The development of ‘The Way’ dates back in the first century by the Jewish people and the first people to become Christians were either converted Jewish or people born as Jewish. In the first century, the Jewish spread the gospel orally as there were no written documents and the first church community was located in Jerusalem. With time, the apostles started preaching the gospel in churches using the bible and the scriptures, consequently, ‘’The Way’’ continued to develop as the Bible was translated into other native languages from the initial which was Greek.
Three major time-periods that resulted in the writing of the gospel
Period of Jesus’ ministry
During the period of Jesus’ ministry, the gospel focused on the actions of Jesus as he was ministering to the people and the writings in this period try to elaborate how Jesus passed the information through miracles, healing and other strange things that Jesus did to show that he was the son of God.
Period after the resurrection of Jesus
After the resurrection of Jesus, the preaching of his resurrection followed and it was facilitated by the apostles. The apostles started preaching that he was a divine son of God and many people did not believe that, Jesus was the Son of God. They believed that he was the son of Joseph and Mary, but it was until his resurrection that the apostles started preaching of what had happened and what they thought of Jesus after the resurrection.
Period when the Evangelists wrote the gospel
At this time, the evangelists wrote the gospel according to how they understood it and depended on the concern and situations. The central theme in this period is that the preacher wanted to make people understand Jesus is Christ. The major characteristic of this period involved the spread of the gospel and identification of Jesus as divine. The Jerusalem council lead to strengthening of the movement has it contributed to wise decisions in the movement.

Historical and theological background that lead to Nicene Creed
The Nicene Creed was first written in the first century AD 325 and the first Nicene Creed that was written involved of only believing in God the Father and the Son. Ecumenical Council wrote it and it was later improved to include the Holy Spirit. The Nicene Creed came into being to explain the relationship that exists between God the Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit and the Nicene Council argues that the relation that exist between God (father )and the Jesus (son) is different from the one that exist between God the Father and the Holy Spirit. They say that between the father, son is begetting, and that of the Father and the Holy Spirit is procession.
Struggles Christians had to endure
The most challenge that the Christians faced from the Jews, and the Roman government is that of believing in a supernatural being. The Roman government believed in Christianity as a social thing and each religion was required to have a god; thus, the Christians had to struggle because they were termed as superstition. As they were fighting for what they believed, many of the Christians were persecuted.
