1. Disaster and catastrophe are almost the synonyms. Similarly, a catastrophe is any big and destructive event of great importance. Trauma in the context of a single person is a physical or emotional wound or, in the context of generic description, an event that causes great misfortune. A plague is known to be one of the deadliest diseases of all the times; it is an epidemic disease with high death percentage.
2. It is possible to say that, if the damage from the plague is not very big, and for instance the death rate isn’t very high one may assume that in this case plague is a disaster. In case of evacuation because of it, or huge numbers of people that died from plague – it is a catastrophe. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
3. One can call a plague a disaster because it was caused by a naturally originating disease and there is big number of people killed. However, plague can lead to the much worse scenario, for instance, total isolation of a city, and that could be a feature of a catastrophe.

7. The disaster could be represented as a simple sinking ship, not counting the deaths hundreds of people. In that case it is not possible to call this accident a catastrophe.

9. Speaking of plague it is hard not to mention negative representation of this disease. Firstly, the symptoms are horrible per se. Moreover, the death that is in 99% awaits for a person who has plague is also very negative representation.
10. The most powerful representation in plague, as for me, is the absolute power of this disease. How many lives did it take, before there was cure invented?
11. The representation of plague impacts reason and emotions, as it is impossible to speak about such disease with straight face.
12. There are a lot of art connected with plague. Hundreds of paintings, photos and exhibitions are around the world, trying to show the horrible reality of the times when the plague dominated on the streets. For instance, there is a painting by Hans Baldung Grien, depicting a Death (plague) that kills hundreds of people that are painted in the background. There was also an exhibition devoted to the medieval plague, an artist Frank To opened a new exhibition in where one could find a lot of works inspired by medieval plague doctors.
