The present-day climate change forecasts have been confirmed by ancient warming incident that exceeds current warming world, a new study has shown (Iacurci, 2015). About 2.8 million years ago, the temperature of the earth was about two degrees Celsius, warmer than the way it is now, while the carbon dioxide atmospheric levels were about 400 parts per billion, same with the levels that were reached few years ago (Skeptical Science, 2014). Evidence of such earlier warm period originated from the analysis of the prehistoric plankton fossils, which were drilled from the floor of the ocean (Teach, 2014). By conducting a study about the link between the levels of carbon dioxide and climate change in the course of a warmer period in the history of the earth, scientists have been in a position to estimate the way the climate will offer a response to the increasing levels of carbon dioxide (Oconnor, 2010). Such a parameter referred to as ‘climate sensitivity’ (IPCC, 2007).
I would like to respond to number 7, where it is pointed out that all historic climate proxies should be disregarded and the future forecast be based on an analogue of the last one hundred and fifty years because, as the author points out, this period presents more reliable data. However, it can be more accurate to consider a warmer period in the history of the earth, indicated by evidence obtained from analyzing the ancient plankton fossils. Considering what happened during the warmer period forms the right basis for making predictions about future climate change. The warmer period did not occur in the course of the last one hundred and fifty years.
