Good Essay On Share And Care Company
History: the Share and Care Foundation was started in New Jersey in 1982. It was started by a small group of Indians living the U.S, who held the U.S citizenship. Primarily, the foundation started with a simple idea of converting what was considered as waste in the countries in the west into goods that could be used by people living in countries found in the eastern part of the world. The idea started working when used equipment and clothes of good quality considered as waste in the U.S started being included in shipments taken to the countries in the East. The supplies of these clothes as well as equipment played a significant role in increasing the quality of health care in various charitable health care institutions in countries found in the east. The foundation was founded on the basis of volunteerism for the purposes of improving the quality of life of others who are less fortunate members of the communities in the east. The members of the foundation aimed at ensuring from its initial stages that they were catalysts of promoting high return and low cost programs in rural areas, which to date have grown stronger over the years.
Over the years, the foundation has achieved a number of milestones. Firstly, in 1983, it was able to raise around $15,000 and at the same time sent a huge amount of used clothes to India. In 1940s, the foundation helped the people who were affected by what is known as the Bhopal Dister, while in 1985 it started the initiative of taking used medical equipment to hospitals in rural areas in India. It is evident that over the years that the foundation has been able to offer a number of scholarships to less fortunate members of the society in India and other poor countries in the East. Furthermore, the foundation has been instrumental in the adoption of children from poor backgrounds to families that are well up so that they can be able to get basic needs. In 2013, the foundation launched its presence on the website, while in 2014 it started a signature program aimed at empowering women.
Purpose: the main purpose of the foundation from its initial stages has been to collect all used clothes and other equipments and take them to less fortunate families in the eastern countries. The founder of this organization noted that in many countries in the west, clothes as well as other critical equipments are considered waste when they are still functional; therefore, in order to ensure that these products become of use to the people living in absolute poverty in the countries found in the east, mainly India, the members decided to be collecting them and taking them to the poor people in the society. Therefore, the foundation’s main objective over the years has been to ensure that people who affected by disasters or less fortunate have access to basic human needs, such as clothing, shelter and medical care at lower costs. The foundation has also been committed to ensuring that children from poor backgrounds get an opportunity to go to school by offering scholarships to the brightest students. On the other hand, the foundation has been focused on ensuring that hospitals in various rural areas have the basic equipments needed to offer medical care services to the people living in these areas. Therefore, the main purpose of the foundation can be said to help the poor and fighting poverty in the society by equipping people with skills and other critical needs in life so that they can come out of poverty in the long run.
