Studying personality, individual peculiarities and intelligence, many experts have come to the conclusion that they may no longer be considered as independent. Abilities and emotions, meaning intelligence and personality, are “the two construct domains which account for much of the psychological variability between individuals” (Austin et al., 2001). Before this statements were made the intelligence was considered to be a part of personality, or they do not have any connection, or they are related but categorically distinct.
I think that emotions distinguish our abilities. It is very important how you feel before you start doing any work. Thus you should possess some personality features that will push you in your abilities. For example, we can mention extraverts and introverts. When we speak about the first group, we usually think about assertiveness, talkativeness and sociability. In general, these are positive features. But speaking in terms of intelligence, extraversion is often connected with lack of persistence and low-level cognitive process. When we mention introverts, we usually imagine reticence, unsociability and loneliness. But when it comes to abilities, it seems that this group of people is capable of achieving heights in their career and develop their cognitive skills.
