Social welfare is an institutional belief that denotes equality however it also recognizes those who stand rewarded for their efforts as well as those that are not performers. It advocates independence and self-reliance, it also promises that ill-fated people somehow are responsible for their fates. For those that are successful in life, social welfare imposes altruism and caring for those that need help (Eisler, 2007). Social welfare functions for the continuity of the society by the continual prevention of instability. Everyone has a personal definition of social welfare. The society is responsible for the values that influence the social welfare system.
The impact of social welfare on economic levels matter on grounds of privacy. Some issues affecting people are private and, on the other hand, the other issues public issues are those that affect the entire society on matters ranging from economic to crisis and politics. Some matters that are personal affect the public adversely because of the nature, factors like employment and unemployment depending on public or private reason affect the social welfare system. The socio-economic system affects the social welfare on levels based on race, immigration, minority and majority. The social classes define the nature of problems the people undergo. Abuse of substance results from socio-economic factors that place stress on different individuals.
The abuse occurs because of stress, poverty and isolation among other problems Social welfare institutions and social workers, for this reason, offer help to the society as well as on individual levels in cases of private issues. Social welfare works on levels more that public and private issues. It works in business, industry, the military, the education sector, the health sector and the religious institutions. The issue of self-reliance appears from the very pioneers of the American nation (Eisler, 2007).The expectations the myths stood on a different ground from the experience and the reality the people faced despite leaving family and traditions behind. The idealized myth of the American society still does not make sense. What counts is the success and the continual of success without the aid. Without making it a person is considered lazy and incompetent. For successful people, religion and science provide rationalization for the effort of material gains.
In other words, the theories of laissez-faire capitalism do greater good with the interference of the government into the affairs and functions of the society. In the interference of the government in the market and the rationale of capitalism a market, commodity finds its worth. The free market takes Charles Darwin`s theory of natural selection giving the commodity that most fits the market value and that which does not, deceases (Eisler, 2007). Balance of individual and societal problem qualifies responsibility because of the concept and structure of the system society.
Social justice differs in definition from one person to another. It means that every person is equal, but the successful have no responsibility for their poor counterparts. The social minimum defines the resources in a society as well as on a personal level. All people have rights to access equally in the social minimum concept (Eisler, 2007). The market solves problems in a mechanical manner that is controlled by the government. Another option is that the government comes to the aid of its citizens when necessary. From the author`s perspective, the system is to blame for the inadequacy of those in the society. Altruism works within social structures in which people live.
