Introduction:
Running a whole nation would definitely be a difficult task. As far as the American History is concerned, the president is the most powerful individual in the nation. It is noted that right after he has been elected and held office, he must follow everything the constitution has. Evidently, a president is held liable to every move he makes because it is mainly for the welfare of the citizens. This summary refers to the role of the presidency based on Chapter 7 “The Presidency”.
The chapter started out on the history about Clinton’s plan in having nationwide healthcare reform programs. It also compared the moves taken by President Obama to the latter president. Evidently, the President governs everything as the executive part of the nation. However, what did the two Presidents for the healthcare program is that they have only given drafts of reforms for the Senate to improve and approve. It is much good if they have done their job in a level that they have contributed to the reforms on the minute level. Additionally, the Senate is divided into two, the democrats and the Republicans. With these facts, the bill passed on the senate would definitely be hanging if those two parties would not agree on each other.
It is stated in the constitution that a President can change a policy unilaterally. Thus, the president’s initiative is inherent to the executive and legislative part of the Congress. Moreover, the powers of the president to approve a bill are advantageous to him. The lack of coordination and campaign for a certain bill may cause the delay of the approval of the bill. That is why a President should be immersed on matters like that to move the policy reforms on a faster timeline.
All in all, taking the job of a President is not a joke. Different problems are faced by them including international affairs. Cooperation and Understanding is still the best way to help a president.
