Description of the Instance

One of the instances which shows absurdity unfolds when the wife of Master Fugui come for him in order to ask him to leave for home. Fugui refuses and orders his wife to leave the premises leaving her wife unsatisfied. As a result, the wife follows her to the gambling table insisting that he leaves with her. However, Fugui becomes harsh and roughs her up ordering her to leave immediately. He talks so loudly and with disrespect such that everybody laughs at his wife with contempt. Although Long’er advises him to go home with his wife stating that they would gamble at a future date, Fugui stood his ground and chased his wife away in disrespect.

Critical and Rational Expectation

Instead of taking her to a private place and holding a talk with his wife, Fugui unexpectedly harasses his wife in front of everybody in the room. He pours very harsh words on her such that the wife is evidently embarrassed. This is a critical instance of absurdity whereby a man, who is expected to respect his wife, turns out to embarrass her strongly in front of strangers.
