Question 1
One of the biggest challenges in higher education that need to be addressed is diversity. Some of the greatest aspects of diversity that affect higher education are social status and ethnicity. Some people from some ethnic groups are not exposed to quality higher education due to racial discrimination and cultural factors (McCracken, 2013). It is also common for some communities to have cultural practices that limit their access to higher education (McCracken, 2013). Among the best strategies to overcome the issues is for universities to partner with big corporations that have resources to search the talented students from marginalized groups and sponsor them. Many organizations are ready to take responsibility, but they lack support from higher education management (Roberts, 2012). They could also implement policy change so that they can adopt policies that enhance diversity. For instance, they could decide to select students based on social factors so that marginalized students are given priority (Roberts, 2012).
Question 2
Higher education has been expensive for many students, and many students have been caught up in huge financial debts. Many students are locked out of quality higher education because they come from poor backgrounds and cannot afford the fees charged at some of the best colleges and universities (Hodgson, 2013). Once they clear education, they are unable to service the loans due to an increase in unemployment. The strategy that should be implemented to stem the problem of debts is to reduce the rates of interest and ensure that the repayment is made after the person secures employment (Steiner, 2014). The regular deductions should also correspond to the amount that the person earns (Steiner, 2014).
