Meeting the expectations of employers and reaching them
Adding something more to one’s profile would keep him in a good stead to attract more opportunities. I always will make it a point to add something more to my qualification and experience (Hill and Stone, 1960). For example, I will spend my spare time to learn a new language and read self-help books and biographies of great leaders, which would improve my communication skills.
I will also continuously work on building my character. I will work on changing my attitude; I will always dress and walk like a successful person (Doyle, 2015). This will help me face employers with confidence. Whenever I show myself before an interview board, I will throw them my offerings that would answer their million dollar question, why should they hire me for a particular position (Phil, 2014)?
Reaching out to the employers
I will enroll with the School Career Services Bureau which would help me in preparing a fine resume with covering letter apart from preparing me for various job interviews.
For someone who is fresh out of college like me, creating a profile on LinkedIn, highlighting the details of earlier schools, my extra-curricular activities with awards and honors, a list of my strengths and a summary of a career I always dreamed of since my childhood, would be a key tool to fish a befitting job (Young, 2011). I also would include part time jobs I held earlier like babysitting and summer camp assignment to enrich my profile. Adams (2012), reports that most employers follow the LinkedIn for catching potential candidates for new openings these days.
I also will create my personal blog on Word Press in which I will share my dreams and passions. I also will put to use my writing skills to write about topics of interest to me like marketing, human resource development and information I gain from reading latest books from diverse fields. In addition to improving my skills, my blog would attract employers who are after a person of my tribe.
