The bank manager is definitely a person that is key in as far as planning of the bank’s operations is concerned. Effectively, much priority would be given to the plans of the branch of the bank I would be working for and those of the overall baking organization(Kolb and Jessica 63). Planning entails establishing the needs of the organization and developing the long term and short-term goals of the bank by linking them with a vision and mission of the banking institution. However, as the overall leader of the bank, the manager reserves the right to how each of the employees of the bank would work. The need for consultation on the views of employees of the bank is only necessitated by the desire to achieve high levels of efficiency. As a person who may be called upon to attend to any other emergencies of matters that may have them out of office, the delegation would be inevitable. The delegation would also help in nurturing talents and sharpening the skills of juniors within the bank.
One of the most important exercises that would be bent in preparation for the banking manager job is that of orientation. This can be initiated through proper negotiation skills. Working as a bank manager, one may have a great extent of freedom, one that allows one to domineer others and impose their own will on the juniors in as long as they stick to the policies and rules of the bank. In getting into a new position as the bank manager, the orientation would be a very important activity (Kolb and Jessica 70). This would include liaising with my predecessor before they get out of the office to understand how the office is run and learn one or two things about the bank and its policies and operations. The outgoing bank manager would well provide basic information on the bank’s assets and all assets under the bank.
