Introduction
A research on plights of employees in India has shown how greatly issues on accent, communication, norms and attitudes has affected Indians. As India is developing into an industrial hub, people of different diversity have camped in India due to employment opportunities. With no strict laws to protect employee from malicious employers, cases of injustices have emerged. Unlike other developed countries where employees have rights and protected by the law, Indian employees have ended up in the loose end, with cases of pay with no work on the rise.
Brett, (2006), observes that, managers have been under pressure to merge employees of different cultures. Some of their efforts have resulted into unseen damaging effects on the employee’s performance and morale. It is as result of this that some companies have experienced tremendous below quality services hence put into jeopardy of making losses.
Some employees have felt minor to foreigners who have been tormenting them with their fluency in English. The difference in accent has resulted to some business proposals and programmes to fail due to communication breakdown. More so, some segment of employees have lamented of missing jobs due to their flaws in fluency during interviews (ASHAPPA, 2012). This has been reduced to interpersonal conflicts and hatred. Conflicts have resulted into disruption of team members, personalization of feedback and increased resistance to duties.
Issues of service delivery have resulted because of attitudes of employees on hierarchy and authorities. Some communities within India believe that those in authority should be humble. However, this has resulted to soft managers who cannot defend their decisions directly. As a result, prejudice by other managers on their competence has been a serious issue which has affected performance.
