The TED video presents the valuable experiences and team management strategies of famous trainer Mr. Tom Wujec who uses Marshmallow challenge to assess team collaboration among different teams of CEOs, executives, business students, architects, engineers, lawyers and kindergarten students. Indeed, the challenge is designed to evaluate a team’s capability to quickly adapt to a immediate change and make urgent decisions through mutual understanding, coordination and collaboration. From a personal perspective, the reviewer agrees Mr. Wujec that most of the people initiate work with task orientation followed by planning, operations and task completion. In addition, the reviewer also agrees with Mr. Wujec who correctly identifies that there is no right plan or solution for any business problem due to constant changes in external environment. Therefore, the business students should be trained to develop multiple alternate solutions for problem-solving and decision-making because any abrupt change could lead to ‘OOPS’ moments i.e. the conflicts, crisis and provoking disagreements among strategic planners who are known to be highly geared visionary teams. Further, a team’s performance depends on constructing a team of professionals that have specialized skills and personnel with facilitation skills because both types of essential to foster overall performance and success. The reviewer seconds the finding of Mr. Wujec that a combination of lucrative incentives and high skills is foremost for team performance and success metrics. Unequivocally, the incentives offered to low skilled people could not generate favorable results because individual capabilities, knowledge, education, technical soundness and expertise are most important contributors in a team’s efficiency and effectiveness (Levi, 2014).
