Good Example Of Essay On The Issues In My Society; Homosexuality

As we progress forward, the recognition and respect for gay members of the Canadian society, or anywhere else for that matter is picking up pace. They are not being looked down upon anymore, and they are being given as many rights as any normal, straight couple. There was a time when the question ‘Do you know someone who is gay’ triggered not particular response in the people of our society, either because gay people were so far back into the closet that they could not notice or due to the fact that the straight couple refused to give them any recognition. The same question was brought up again in the polls of 2012, and 74% answered in a ‘Yes’. It is time that we ask ourselves today; are we really moving forward when the issue of homosexuality is progressing with unruly swiftness? Where I stand is this; Gay couples are the defiance of the laws of nature and shouldn’t exist in our society.
Gay couples gaining recognition and being made to feel normal is barely the start of our problem. As of today, the younger generation of people is coming out even sooner than our elders were comfortable with, and there are more same-sex couples among the youthful population then there are a generation back. Even religion does not take the problem lightly. What follows is a verse from the Old Testament regarding couples of the same sex. If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them. Another problem is that media worldwide is actively taking part in promoting homosexuality. The example, that I can think of, is that of the Ellen DeGeneres show when Ellen herself openly admits to being Gay on a live show. My family has always taken an opposing stand on the topic of homosexuality, and I pompously follow suit. The fact that our legal system recognizes gay marriages as permissible hardly helps with the problem.
For the sake of argument, let us say that homosexuality becomes a socially accepted act and gains enough popularity to cause all of the gay couples to come out and get married. How then is the population of the mankind going to progress when the gay couples would be looking towards adopting children because they cannot procreate? Or are they going to employ artificial ways of giving birth where we have to incur unnecessary cost on techniques like InVitro-Fertilization and surrogacy just to have them fail in the end? Not to mention the disruption that the basic family units could face with gay couples becoming a socially accepted norm. The role of a mother and a father could be replaced by two fathers or two mothers. When a family doesn’t even have a complete set of members, how are the children going to grow up healthy and wise? So it’s time that we reconsider our past decisions and bear in mind the consequences of following a path that defies all the basic laws of nature.
