The Life and Adventures of Joaquín Murieta: The Celebrated California Bandit was published by John Rollin Ridge in 1854. It was meant to be a fictional biography of Joaquin but a number of historians took it as truth.
The blood battle started when the brother of Joaquín lover and close comrade Reyez feliz get killed. Immediately after the news of his death, his lover Carmelita also died in sorrow and froze to death. These painful incidents lead Joaquín take a revenge and right from that step, the battle started and continued.
Every writer has some parts of his own life, personality, experiences and ideologies in his book. We can easily identify the personality traits and life experiences of Ridge in the leading character Joaquín. He is the reflection of what Ridge had been and wanted to be. He has tried to tell the world regarding the sufferings he had and struggles he made within his mind.

Ridge definitely sympathizes with the abrupt actions and rebellious nature of Joaquín. I suppose that this character has a lot resemblance with Ridge. He might have been rebellious himself in many moments of life and regretted later. He hence indirectly sympathizes with his own shortcomings. The fictional Joaquín is closer to the actual personality of Ridge whereas the Joaquín determined by the research is not. In this character he tried to depict the conflicts he had within him all his life. Being Cherokee and a Native American, he always had the conflict between the two identities which can easily be noticed by reading this book of his.
