After visiting the official website of Ford Company, one may conclude that one of the main requirements is the passion of the candidate about their business. In this company workers appreciate their values and keep in mind the history of Ford. So it is clear, that knowledge of the corporate environment (including some data placed on their website) will also be useful for the employee. The next important criterion is a drive for continuous improvement. The company works with innovations, it is committed to enhancing different social aspects of life. It is needless to say that the Ford Company seeks from the candidate the same drive for sustainable development and continuous improvement.

If comparing the skills outlined in the advertising with my current knowledge and abilities, I can make a conclusion that I have 6 of 8 criteria from the company requirements list. Currently, I have only general information about the business of the company and its customers and I did not think over the possibility to work for the automobile industry. The next gap is having not enough ability to lead or inspire people. I am part of the team, and can describe myself as leader in many situations. But I feel I need some additional abilities to make people more efficient and motivated.

My plan to close the gap1 between two sets is:

communication with people who have been working for the company for a long period of time. (they can provide me with important intra-company information, that is not available for the public)

meeting some efficient leaders and analyzing their way of influencing people

Short term goals:
Attend the "Influence power" course by the end of 6 level to motivate other people in team work environments.
In order to establish myself as an expert of automobile industry, I will read a 650-page book on Ford Motor Company history by reading one chapter per week (30-40 pages per day). The book will be completed up to 6 levels, and then I will apply for working in automobile company.
2. Medium term goals:
I have 50000 dollars savings in the bank by my graduation from the University, I will spend additional 2 hours per day working to receive the needed sum of money and then invest them in my own business.
Up to my graduation from the University I will pass all the examination procedure successfully to get the certificate with 80% of excellent marks.
3. Long term goals:
Up to 2 years post-graduation I will have successful consulting company with 500000$ profits per year and 50 people working for it

A specific goal has much a greater chance of being accomplished than a general goal. So it is really important to set goals to be accomplished in specified time periods. I decided that the first goal to be achieved in short term perspective is to learn more about ways of influencing people and motivating them to be really efficient. But to achieve it just attending courses is not enough, I also need to use gained knowledge in daily life. The purpose1.2. is important for me because the automobile industry is profitable and I am interested in reading of such books. As for the middle time goals, I consider them as vital. Good diploma is rather reflection of your ability to work hard and being flexible. To start your own business is rather complicated task without having some capital. Only 2 extra hours of working per day are needed to show good results in future. It is easy to limit some spending but then to create my own company! One has to face lots of different obstacles before his company will reach success. I realize that clearly. I have briefly mentioned all the decisive steps in my long term plan omitting many details due to the format of my work. Of course the process of falling in love with a person and creating family cannot be planned beforehand. But up to 2 years post-graduation I hope to fulfill this plan. To my mind, all the SMART goals mentioned above are quite realistic and their achievement will lead to creating new ones on different levels. I have at least 15 other goals set for each period and think by making small but permanent steps all the abstract dreams will be replaced by specified performed tasks.
