ABSTRACT
The following is a summary of the Sheehan (1994) journal article on the outcomes of a multi-methodology assessment of a university psychology program. The design of the evaluation specifically considered different aspects of the program including the faculty input as well as participating undergraduate students’ views as relating to their goals and objectives in gaining their degree. The assessment revealed the positive areas of the program and importantly proved a capstone for initiating identified weak areas for making changes benefiting the undergraduate learning experience.

Review and consideration of the Sheehan (1994) article about a multi-methodology for assessing a university program for psychology majors provides a clearly outlined academic level understanding of this process via different components of the university psychology agenda. In doing so, testing and measuring capstone course performance focused on the student understanding of psychology according to participating student feedback about their goals and objectives. Responses to the questionnaires provided in the survey assessing participating psych major student feedback of their satisfaction with the instruction of the various aspects of the university psychology program provided the data aimed at improving specific features as well as publicizing the outcomes university wide. Engaging such an evaluation proved beneficial to the university psychology by forcing the administrators to outline the department goals and objectives aimed at the undergraduate enrollment. In doing so, this prodded the department faculty consideration of how undergraduate students experience the instruction in terms of how the courses not only relate one to the other, but also, how the psychology courses build one upon the other. Further, results of the assessment process covered the psychology program strengths as well as weaknesses aimed at initializing necessary changes. In regard to how this article proved effective in a subjective consideration of the personal experience so far of goals and objectives as a psychology major student according to the Lecture of week 2 panel member feedback results in two persona recommendations to the UOM according to personal goals and objectives gaining the degree. First, more access to one-on-one interchange with the faculty as needed, and second, more attention to the research and design related go career goals.
