Good Example Of My Different Me Essay
My different me is an Indian, Himalayan sage, priest and Brahman. Relinquishing a life of lavishness and excess, he embarks on a soul searching journey. Contrary to common understanding of an isolated, faith-centered person, he is decidedly engaged in daily activities but, insightful, re-imagines daily particulars in a reincarnation-styled, Indian fashion. Outwardly, he has a daily job, a family, a home – and a history. Deeper, however, into his soul he is a different person, connected to a different world, different people and different places. Typical, mundane, daily activities acquire different meanings according to him.
The routine, daily ritual of awakening is one of shedding off lost realities and opening up to new ones under a rising sun in his patio, open to a limitless ocean. (One day, he decided he and his wife create a wooden setup in his patio and wake up uninterrupted by mundane distractions of a sounding alarm but to caressing rays of a natural sun, like in his Himalayan, rising inner self.)
He used to commute to work by car. However, day after day, he found himself inclined to walk. One day, he decided to leave his car in a city center garage and just walk. He has to wake up earlier now. Yet, of all joys, he has come to enjoy shrubs and vegetation on his way to work and back home. (How many years he spent just passing by!) To him, nature has come to mean re-connection, reincarnation into a self lost to an outward world.
His home is now up for sale. He has had enough of working for living and is now ready for meditating for life. One does not, he thought, need leave a place for life to find one's actual self but, rather, sheds off what is not for what is.
