Project Title and Description

The title of the project is Operation Birthday. The project involves planning my birthday party in which various individuals will be invited. The birthday will be both a party to celebrate and unite old friends who have not seen each other in years.

Purpose

As aforementioned in the preceding chapter, the project is supposed to bring together old college and high school friends and be a celebration of life as well. The birthday party is; thus, a social convention that must be undertaken to fulfill my wishes, which are reuniting my old pals. This party is being undertaken similarly to other annual birthday parties I host. However, this party is special because it is all about the old friends. Looking for contacts and whereabouts is going to be one of the most complex aspects of this task.

Product Description/Deliverables

The party has to be a success. What will be the quantifiers of success in the party and implementing it? One of the key ways through which the success of the project will be determined is a well-planned party running with no hitches. All suppliers need to have been paid and the staff as well. Additionally, everything has to be in order. Another way through which the success of the project will be determined is through the attendance. A high attendance would mean a successfully executed project. Some important individuals have to be in attendance. The presence of such individuals who will be listed in the project will be a key determinant in a successful execution.

Measurable Project Objectives/ Success Criteria (SMART)

The objectives set for the project as are listed below.
1. Get the most affordable yet quality suppliers for the birthday supplies.
2. Have a range of drinks and beverages to serve the diverse tastes of all attendants.
3. Properly carry out the sending of invites to ensure that all preferred guests are in attendance.
4. Have an excellent service staff who will attend to the guests every need.
5. Have an excellent music system to entertain the attendants.
6. To have excellent catering services that offer high-quality food and a diverse menu
Each of the set objectives is achievable, realistic, measurable, time bound and smart. In focusing on the music, food, guests, invites, catering and cost reduction are some of the key initiatives of the projects. These objectives will thus ensure that the birthday party covers all possible dimensions that characterize a good birthday party. Although the main intention of the birthday party is not to impress the attendants, with all the effort put into the project, it is only prudent to impress them.

Project Context/ Dependencies

One of the ways through which this party relates to the other projects undertaken by this organization is that the birthday party is an event. There are countless issues associated with the planning of a birthday party that would offer some of our staff members experience in organizing events. Handling music and drinks would also significantly contribute to creating a wide network of suppliers who might come in handy in the future. As such, this project might not have a direct relation to other projects that we undertake in this course, but still it has a significant impact on the organization that would be of great benefit. It is not an urgent project as well. As such, it does not rely on any other projects as well.

Scope Specifications

The project is to be executed and implemented within a week’s time. Since this is not a high-profit project, minimal time needs to be spent on it. As such, the party must be ready in a week’s time since the time of establishment.

Out-of-Scope Specifications

The projected should have minimal expenditure as possible a cost limit for the project must be developed to ensure that the project does not surpass the budget.

Assumptions

1. The party will run without a hitch
2. Suppliers are willing to offer low prices for the services
3. The projected costs of the supplies will be enough to cater for the entire project.

Constraints

1. Time: the project has to be completed within a week.
2. Cost: the project cannot exceed the set limit for finances. Some of the supplies might be overlooked in favor of others.

Project Approval Requirements

For the project to be approved, one of the considerations is a noise permit. Getting the necessary legal and social permits from neighbors to throw the party will be the first approval needed for the party to progress. Secondly, another key approval required is a go ahead from the project leader at the organization. Getting the necessary authority to work on such a project is essential. Not all such projects are approved.

High-Level Project Risks

Some of the major risks are injuries and fires. In a place, as crowded as a party, the possibility of hazards might be affected. The venue owners and the attendants are some of the key stakeholders who might be affected by the project.
