Good Example Of Religious Studies Essay
God Is Spirit
“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24) states the King James Bible. It is one of the most frequently used quotation though people often do not completely comprehend its sense. The idea of worshiping God “in spirit and in truth” comes from the conversation between Jesus and the woman of Samaria. While speaking with her, He gave a lesson on what true worship means and said that the Father seeks true worshipers to worship him in spirit and truth.
The key idea of it is to show that the true worship does not need to be made in a special establishment or at a particular geographical location. It does not require following specific regulations subject to the provisions of Old Testament law. With the Jesus's coming, separation between worshiper and God no longer exists. Christ's coming made all of God's children gain equal access to God through Him. Worshiping “in spirit and in truth” comes from the heart and is directed by love for Him. It does not need any external actions because not it is brought up by truth, not by the ceremony. Instead, it requires loving God with all heart, mind, soul and strength.
Until people have no passion for God, no worship in spirit is possible. Until they possess knowledge of the God they worship, no worship in truth is possible. This idea comes down to the fact that the more we know about Him, the more we appreciate Him. The more appreciation we have, the deeper our worship is. The deeper our worship is, the more God is praised.
