The article ‘What’s Next in Social Media’ composed by Noff (2011), includes many predictions regarding the future of the social media. Many of the predictions seemed vague because the technology and its success cannot be predicted to the fullest. The article includes the prosperity of the branding products. The consumer will be more captured through the social media. Conversely, in the near future, the competitors will grow in a large number making the customer occupied with their brands. Hence, it will be not as easy as mentioned din the article to use the social media for branding the products and attracting, acquiring the customers at the same time. Eventually, in order to brand a product, the organizations will have to deal with the competitors and cope up with them.
The article illustrates that the social media sites are collecting the data to the users pertaining to their likes and dislikes. These data will help in determining the interest of the customer, and the relevant product will be branded to the customer without the placement of customer’s demands. On the contrary, the information sent to these sites is by the users themselves. Consequently, the users would not surely provide the true data regarding their interests. Hence, the data collected cannote authentic, therefore, the branding of the product will not rely on this data.
The article describes that the human relationships will be stronger because they will be more connected through the social media. People living in the distant places will be in touch with each other and hence, the people relationships will be better. However, this is evident from the present circumstances that the use of the social media has not aided in the human to human relationship. In fact, the people have become far apart to one another because they are always busy over the media and are less concerned about the things going around them.
One of the flaws of the predictions mentioned in the article is that it does not narrate the future of the cell phoned in future in detail. It can be noted that the use of the cell phones has been raised with the passage of the time. Several features are incorporated in the cell phones. This handy small device contains many features which make the business work, managing work, presentations, etc. (Rushang, 2015). These features are introduced in the cell phones in order to acquire the benefit from the handy devices that are always present along with the user and easy to use. Therefore, it can be predicted that more features can be planned to be lodged in the cell phones, and this device can be made more advanced in the future. Consequently, this point was not expressed by the writer in the article.
The article is also devoid of the software which can be devised in the future to protect the privacy of the users and customers of the social media. Nowadays, the hackers are the groups of people who have ruined the privacy of the people. Subsequently, the users of the social media cannot share the authentic information regarding themselves due to the risks of terror. Eventually, the development of certain anti-hacking in the social media can put the halt in the hacking system. Therefore, this can be predicted to happen in the future which seemed missing in the article.
