Good Example Of Research Proposal On An Empirical Study On Rape And Sex-Related Crime

Introduction

Rape is one of the most severe crimes committed in today’s contemporary society. There are many causes related to rape incidents and we need to inspect each of them. We need to understand the symptoms and try to provide solutions that will help in solving the rape issues. The governmental organizations and the law enforcement agencies need to implement laws and take serious actions in order to decrease the increasing amount of rape incidents.

What are your motives for studying this topic?

The American Medical Association considers rape to be one of the brutal violent incidents in a given society. It is a sexual violence that injures the respective individual both physical and mentally. It becomes difficult for them to overcome or to restart their life in a normal way (Kaufman & Crawford, 2011). Hence, it is important for the respective society and especially for the relatives and friends of the victim to support her and help her in every possible manner.
However, it has been also noted that the rape of reporting and prosecuting for rape varies for different jurisdictions. As per the reports from The U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics in 2010, it was found that nearly 91% of the U.S. rape victims were females. But, the researchers in this field have argued that the male-on-male and female-on-female rape incidents often go unnoticed and hence, we cannot find their statistics in all these reports. Hence, there is a need to undertake this research to find out why such incidents often go unnoticed. And, secondly, another motive that inspires to carry out this research is regarding the steps taken in this direction to prevent the rape incidents.

The four research questions, which I would like to investigate for the given topic, are as follows:
Description: How is rape defined in different scenarios? What is consent taken into the consideration?
Exploration: What are the causes of rape?
Explanation: What are the different structural factors and challenges due to which such incidents are occurring in the society?
Evaluation: What are the steps taken by the government and the other authorities to prevent the rape incidents?
Which question most interests you? Would you prefer to attempt to answer that question with quantitative or qualitative methods? Why?
I would like to identify the structural factors and challenges due to which the rape incidents are occurring in the society. And at the same time, I would also like to know what the steps are taken by the government to prevent the rape incidents. I would like to go for a qualitative study, by carrying out an in-depth meta-analysis of a given topic.

Conclusion

Rape is considered to be one of the most painful and serious incident that has been taking place in our society. It destroys the future of the victim. We need to educate males specifically to avoid them from getting indulged into such incidents. The government can open a special grievance cell wherein they will be only focusing upon rape incidents. They will be having special task force members helping the victims and solving all the cases of rape events. We as a responsible citizen need to help such organizations by providing useful information about the culprits.
