Personal Response

In Search of Oildorado by James D. Houston
This article has been presented as an exciting narrative yet too long and confusing at some instances. The author does a lot to contextualize the narrative scenario but, in so doing he ends up making the narrative too mystifying. Though he tries to describe to the reader how Kern County is somewhat different from the original California, he makes the whole narrative complex and too lengthy apart from the detailed text presented. While describing every other little bit aspect related to the narrative, the author makes the reader exhausted before they can be able to grab the main idea and the climax of the narrative. Sentences have been built more on spoken speech in which the flow of idea is somehow compromised to an extent. Furthermore, ideas presented in the narrative are more of based on the author’s personal attitude and opinion. Basically, the article is confusing not only because such articles are not a favorite, but, also because the narrative is too complex, detailed and lengthy while the idea or impression being presented seems to be a simple one.

This article is presented in a logical manner with exemplary and coherent flow of ideas that makes it exciting, intriguing and easy to read. The information provided is in-depth and represents the ideas, impressions and perceptions of an individual who has had a history in the District of Castro. The manner in which the questions have been presented including the corresponding answers and feedback to the questions makes it easy for the reader to capture the concept and comprehensively contextualize the aspects being discussed. The article is a good reminder of colleagues who have interacted with and have a history of gay people in their lives for quite a long time and also reminds the reader of what it feels like. The history of the Castro build around the conception of homosexuality has been laid bare by Stein, who describes in detail each and every aspect of the district. His exemplary commentary on the text plus an extensive response to the questions makes this article a masterpiece, easy to read and easy to understand. Notably, it is not as lengthy as such, but, the ideas presented give the reader a chance to fully comprehend aspects such as the issue of AIDS, homosexuality and the history upon which the Castro District has been built.

Population Whirligig by Carey McWilliams

In essence, the consistent flow of ideas and views gives the article an exciting course which makes the reader more and more curious and interested in reading the whole article. It is upon this rationale that the reader understands the information presented well and has a craving for reading the article more and more because it is quite short.
