Good Example Of The Walk Essay
Introduction
Communication is an important part of human existence. One of the most impressionable books that have been written on communication is Interplay: the Process of Interpersonal Communication by Professor Ronald B. Adler. In the fourth chapter of the book, Adler discusses empathy and sympathy as important aspect of human interaction. Although the two virtues are related, they have a parting point: empathy is the understanding of others’ feelings and predicament since the same have been experienced by the empathizer while sympathy is the acknowledging of other people’s predicament. To an extent, a sympathizer may provide comfort or assurance to the person undergoing suffering. I got to examine the essence of the two virtues as I walked about the campus for about forty minutes (Adler, 67-70).
As I walked along the lecture halls, I noticed a kerfuffle involving a young lady and some lecturers. From what I could gather, the lady had been caught cheating in the exam she was sitting for in the lecture hall and the lecturers, having caught her in the act, were compelling her to fill in the exam irregularities form. The lady on the other hand was frantically begging for pardon. The lecturers were divided among themselves on the course of action to take and had walked out of the hall to confer over the matter. I was compelled to walk by as an exercise of discretion.
