Good Example Of Why I Choose To Become A Nurse Practitioner Essay
Health is one of the basic needs in the society. As a young person, I used to admire the medical practitioners especially nurses for the work they to do. Nurses helped people in the society, especially the poor and the destitute saving their lives. Due to this, I decided that I would train as a nurse. Majority of the needy people in the society today do not have access to the right medical care especially advanced nursing care. For this reason, I made a decision to follow my passion and train as a nurse to provide such services to the poor for free. Moreover, since majority of the poor cannot access health insurance they are vulnerable in the event diseases and hence, as a nurse practitioner, I can help such people especially those with terminal and chronic illness by offering my services at their homes on a regular basis. This way, I would be giving back to the community and help them fulfill one of the humanity aspects of helping the vulnerable.
In addition, it has become increasing important for changes in the healthcare system through policy making. As nurse practitioner, I would seek to offer my advice to the policy makers as need arises. In this case, I would lobby the law makers, the society leader as well as all the other relevant stakeholders to come up with the right policies on healthcare. I would volunteers in societal organizations to offer free advice to them. For examples, on nutrition, disease control, basic first aid skills among others. I believe such steps would not only improve the health of the people, but also make them live a happy live.
