According to the diversity audit that was conducted on World of Beer in Port Orange, Florida is a diverse organization since its management has implemented many policies to ensure there is diversity in all its operations.
Hiring diverse job candidates
First, the HR department of the company ensures that employees are considered for hiring regardless of their color, age, gender, disability, political affiliation, national origin, religion, race genetic information, sexual orientation, veteran status or any other category protected in the law. There are sufficient personality tests and background checks in order to identify diversity concerns during hiring. Secondly, those candidates who succeed during interview are requested to orally respond to potential diversity situations and dilemmas. Their diversity philosophies are considered by managers adequately before hiring. However, the hiring panel does not conduct the necessary tests to identify potential prejudices and biases. The company also does not highlight the importance of diversity in its job listings.
Codes of conduct
The organization has a code of conduct that stipulates the diversity and inclusion requirements at work, which is available and displayed to the public. It provides sufficient example of unacceptable and acceptable behaviors expected at the work place. In addition, the management of the organization ensures that all employees are well trained to implement the code of conduct. However, managers do not vocally support the code of conduct. Employees also do not take part in the annual survey to determine whether the organization is fully implementing the code of conduct.
Inclusive decision making
The management of the organization believes that diversity consideration is important in its decision-making process. It ensures employees are regularly trained to employ decision making models that are inclusive. This training assists them to involve all the stakeholders who are affected by their decisions. They are also comfortable to engage one another through discussions on diversity and inclusion in case contentious issues emerges.
Diversity and inclusion training
The administration of the company ensures diversity and inclusion training are conducted by experts who employees can trust. Such workshops focus on real-life situations that are related to working environment and linked to the code of conduct. They are also given opportunities to engage each other comfortably when issues related to diversity and inclusion arises in the workshops. They also understand the importance of being a diverse organization in relation to their performance and competition from similar companies. Nevertheless, they do not share their real feelings I regards to inclusion and diversity during those workshops. The organization also takes long before holding the inclusion and diversity training, sometime even not organizing one in whole year.
Employee diversity
The employees for the company reflect the gender, racial, religious and ethnic diversity of the community where it is located in most cases. There is no any discrimination during downsizing, performance appraisal and promotion of employees in the company. Sometimes managers support diversity initiatives developed by the employees.
Diversity and inclusion reporting system
The organization has hired an expert to be in charge of its diversity and inclusion program. There is also a confidential internal reporting system where employees can raise any issue related to diversity and inclusion. However, those employees who submit false accusations of diversity and inclusion issues are punished. In conclusion, the performance of the company can be rated at 85% in terms of implementing and promoting diversity and inclusion policies.
