The government of the United States has evolved through a series of changes from the 17th century to the 18th century. Most of the regions were habited by indigenous people who are now referred to as the United States. Various transitions took place from the 17th to the 18th century within the US government system. Some of the factors that were evident during this time were the political integration and autonomy in the 17 and 18th century (Landwehr, 2010).

The political integration and autonomy in the 17 and 18th century

The Indian and French war that took place from 1754-1763 was a well-known watershed event that led to the political development of the colonies. It is also known in the books of history as one of the lager wars that lasted for seven years. There a general was a reduction of the influence of the main rivals of the overlying British Crown in Canada and the colonies with the territory of the thirteen colonies that existed thereby expanding into regions of New France that are both in the Louisiana Territory and Canada (Landwehr, 2010).
A clear look at the foundations of the American government indicates that democracy was a major factor of concern. The US government fought so hard to instil a culture of democracy within their government indicating that it was not a created in a heartbeat situation. The situation at this time realized a situation where the world was ruled by monarchs from higher rankings and the ideas of self-government were completely alien and unimaginable. Democracy is a concept that takes control only when there is practise by the people who are in power and their wisdom as well. In the event that people have to now adjust to the new system of democracy, they have to ensure that the leaders who are in power are the people who have to take up the necessary measures and embrace the change of letting their followers have most of the control (Landwehr, 2010). In this case, a culture had been developed where the leaders would find it difficult to cut down their ego and power and let the people they were leading to have the say in most of the decisions that were made. In this case, they had to go through a series of transitions in order to successfully acquire the full level of democracy in the country.
A democratic tradition began developing agitated by the American colonies during the early stages of the development process. The colonists at this time had a believe that the experience they possessed was enough to work under the British King. The domestic instability and the American Revolution that followed the time entirely prompted a call for the people and leaders to develop a new government with a reliable constitution that would guarantee the people of the country a certain level of liberty. The constitution was then drafted in the early days after the independence (Lu, 2010). The America republic endured longer than any other in the human history.
In the 18th century, the constitution came up as the first ever important written plan that was meant to establish an entirely new republic. Madison stepped up and came to the convention with a clear planned that was referred to as the Virginia Pln. Madison’s role. In this case, he has eventually been referred to as the father of the constitution of the United States of America. The constitution of the United States of America was conceived with a major aim of limiting the existing powers of the Federal government by setting up three independent braches of the government in the part of reflection of the experience of America with what the overlying founders considered to be the King George III unfettered executive power. The major case in this situation was to limit power to the Federal Government (Lu, 2010). One of the ways that was advanced to limit power to the Federal Government was to guarantee power to the states within the country. Specific limits were also advanced to the Democratic Government. In this case, institutions and states would have more say and power in decision making process of the country compared to the Federal Government. The limits that were an indication of the changes that were made to limit power to the Federal government include the re-electing of President Bush with fewer votes that his opponent Core.
