First, the simple design which uses familiar metaphors that are easier to understand makes it easier for the user (user in this case) to get interested interacting with the interface. The webpage interface can also use summary technique whereby a single emphasized headings are used to help convey the message even before reading the inside story itself. The user interface can also make use of both pictures and textual expression to enhance emotional triggers to the reader concerning the situation that needs funding through donations. The web interface in addition uses customization features that allow the user to hide the unnecessary part of the web page and to use navigational features such as links and buttons to easily visit the next or the previous page interfaces. The interfaces also use colors and animated welcome messages within the home pages to create a welcoming atmosphere that creates the willingness to visit and read the associated web pages. Story telling is used to express the situation of the subject matter that in turn creates a sense of touch to the reader with the help of simple language.
Relating emotional thread demonstrated in the case study to the emotional design model
The emotional thread is concerned with the outcome of emotions of experience for given web page interface and how that experience determines the feelings of the user. The emotional design model on the other hand will explain why users may hate or like everyday objects depending on how they are designed or constructed. Therefore, emotional design of the user interface, for, instance is related to emotional thread in that the design of the user interface determines the emotional outcome of experience of interface experience which in turn determines the user’s feel( Kuru, 2013).
How the compositional thread is used in the case study
Compositional thread is concerned with how the different elements of experience come together in order to create a complete experience (Kuru, 2013). In the case study, Collins used sensory and compositional threads to create insights on how the fundraising organizations can optimize the user interfaces in the websites to tell a compelling story to a possible donor that is also balanced in both the emotions and the content. Therefore, his designs integrate different elopements such as emotional triggers, storytelling as well as the welcoming atmosphere for the purpose of encouraging the possible donor to give donation.
Using the user experience framework to create five (5) product evaluation criteria using sensory and compositional threads
Sensory thread is concerned with sensual engagement of the user with the product which is the webpage interface in this case. It also involves how the user interface will look or how its texture makes the user feel about it. As a result, the user experience frameworks that can be created using both sensory and compositional threads include the following: ease of use, social interaction, pleasing aesthetics, emotional experience and smartness including usefulness among others (Al-Azzawi, 2013, Kuru, 2013).
The ease of use defines the difficulties in the usage of the product or user interface. A good interface should be easy to use. The social interaction of the interface will be used to determine or measure the level of undesirable conversation with others and the visibility of the interface. In this case, the interface should offer the most desirable level of conversation with better visibility of user interface. The pleasing aesthetics is used to determine the suitability of personal taste for the interface together with the suitability of the design. The emotional experience on the other hand describes or measures the number of comments concerning the emotional experience. This is basically expected to result from the focus of users. Lastly is the smartness which together with motivation qualities will have the mutual impact on one another. In this case, we can talk of user interface having smart features (Kuru, 2013).
