For those organizations, which operate in the healthcare sector – such as private and public hospitals, aged care facilities, organizations requiring health services etc., the process of interaction with the Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) is referred as one of the major components of their daily professional activities. HCPs care is refereed as an integral component of the process of research and development as well as the major sources of the effectiveness and innovation in the process of healthcare services provision.
The organizations, which operate in thehealth care sector, are required to provide their employees with the proper professional instructions as well as the code of conduct, which should be followed by each employee within the organization – for providing the patients with the innovative and effective medical care (Eucomed, 2015).
This ethical code of conduct reflects the organizational values, which imply provision of the safe an effective care and all employees are the subject to this policy. All employees are obliged to report in the case if the code of ethical conduct is violated by other members of the team. There is a procedure, established by the health care entity, which provides the employees with an option of safe reporting concerning the illegal actions (while not being afraid of repressions). Acts of consequence or retaliation, which are mainly directed on any member of the Hospital, reporting the breach of the Code, are not tolerated and thus, will cause the disciplinary action.
The code of ethical conduct for the healthcare entity:
Upholding the major the values of the healthcare entity: innovation and excellence, teamwork, care, oriented on the patient, leadership, collaboration, respect and diversity;
Delivering the care services to the patients, conducting scientific and laboratory researches, executing the support and education work with intellectual honesty, professional competence, and high standards of medical ethics;
Promotion of the integration of the responsibilities, rights, and information for further fostering the process of informed decision making, which in turn, is mainly aimed on provision of the safe medical care services of the highest quality;
Treating all the external and internal community members with dignity and respect;
Avoiding gender racial, social and economic discrimination in relation to both colleagues and patients;
Respecting and protecting the confidentiality and privacy of all individuals as well as the data, which is subjected to the hospital policies and relevant legislation;
Acting responsibly and honestly as well as avoiding perceived or actual conflicts of interest;
Promotion of the secure, safe, and healthy professional environment for the team members;
Protect the physical, intellectual and electronic property of the Hospital.
The breach of the policy will lead to immediate administrative fine, reprimand or retirement- depending on the severity of the violation (Mount Sinai Hospital, 2012).
Memorandum
The major purpose of the Code implies the provision and representation of the basic ethical principles and standards for the employees of the healthcare entity. It is mainly developed for supplementing, rather than replacement of the national regulations, laws or other professional or business codes, which may be applied to the healthcare professionals operating in the private and public hospitals, aged care facilities, organizations requiring health services, etc.
