Beyond Retro, is a retailer specialized in vintage clothing. The retailer has shops in London, Sweden, and Brighton. Focusing on the store in London, this paper is meant to investigate the visual merchandising and layout of the products in the store mainly focusing on the hanging, eye level of products as well as shelving.
In the Beyond Retro London store, the layout design used therein is the free-flow layout design. Upon entry, it is noticeable that the store uses various methods of placing products. Use of hangings is common. The clothes have also been put on marquees lined up on the staircase inside the store. Other accessories such as wigs have been shelved so as to create ease in accessing them. Products at the store have been placed at approximate right angles so that customers can easily see them without strain.
The store has only one entry which is also the exit. This helps in controlling issues of merchandise theft. Coming to the presentation, or visual merchandising, the store has made use of fixtures, displays and lighting to appeal to the customers. The arrangement of the store has also been done in such a way that the products are easy to see and are appealing to the customer. This is because the customer is able to see easily and access the product that captures his or her attention. Use of color has also been applied as the store has been given a vintage theme with slightly bright colors. As for customer appeal, the store once in a while organizes for art exhibitions and music events during festivals to further entice their customers.
