In 1940 was already see as it can cure all sort of diseases from gastric ulcer to arthritis pains. Other ultrasound pioneers were Douglas Howry who concentrated on developing the B-mode equipment which was a big discovery that compared gross pathology with cross-sectional anatomy and Hellmuth Hertz and Inge Edler were considered the fathers of echocardiography. Between the late 1960s and early 1970s, the sonographic machine had encountered a sonic boom development. Klaus Boom introduced the 2D echo. In that time, the scanning equipment was very large but nowadays the technology has improved and we can have 3D and 4D images and the resolution have been improved significantly.
The occupation of a diagnostic medical sonographer is to provide patient services using the ultrasound machine and he is working under the supervisor of a physician who is responsible for the interpretation of the sonogram. The clinical environment includes a lot of departments and accredited and referenced laboratory, component preparation, compatibility testing, infectious diseases serology, histocompatibility testing and therapeutic hemapheresis. The program of the clinic provides a research environment which creates a stimulating clinic designed to explore different areas of clinical transfusion and opportunities of doing investigations such as sonograms. The section of Obstetrics and Gynecology is now equipped with the latest equipment of 3D and 4D ultrasound sonographers.
An essential part of the curriculum for all sonography programs is the competency clinical education and a plan well-structured.
