An EE program that we can look at is one offered by TEP which endeavors to target energy efficiency: energy conservation and efficiency program. This program is one that utilizes a systems approach by approaching new home owners and giving them insight on information such as health and safety, durability, comfort and their contribution to energy efficiency. By use of face to face discussions and interactions with homeowners in that they come to the company, TEP, for electricity assistance and the company uses this chance to convey this information apart from dispatching their agents to the new homeowner’s places of stay and have them give insight on the relevant topics of discussion. This encourages a closer relationship which may lead to communication through mail, e-mail and even telephone and the company may take up this position and provide the relevant information to the customers.

The audience within the scope for this program is the lot of customers who have not yet incorporated an energy efficiency lifestyle within their original lifestyle. The customers are then able to see the relevance of the conservation of energy practices and how beneficial the practice could be if they adopted it; not only to them but to the entire nation. These people participate in the program mainly due to the benefits attached to taking part in the program rather than their own volition. However, they are not unaware of the change taking part in the program has in their lives and that of others. Seeing there is a positive change in their lifestyles means that they get encouraged to advise others to join them.

Under the energy conservation and efficiency programs, the most common program that TEP has taken a keen interest in the Guarantee Home Program which is an educational program targeting the new homeowners as they seek their electricity services from the company. The company is able to approach their new customers who are new homeowners with attractive rates on their electricity bill should they take part in the program. In the participation of the program, the homeowner is required to fulfill certain requirements which satisfy the qualities needed for energy efficiency that the company wishes to achieve. By encouraging a controlled usage of energy, the company is able to give their participants lower rates on their bills so to encourage an energy conservation practice.
The ideology of this program is easily integrated into the curricula offered in schools in that energy is a concept that can be explained scientifically. Therefore, the ideology can be spread across minds throughout the nation to encourage the practice. As the children learn it in schools they are able to pass on the very knowledge to their followers and the environment can be safe for more generations. To reinforce the ideology, the methods and approach they can achieve energy conservation so that they can actually walk the talk. This is the aspect of the EE goals that the program supports.

The program is an effective one and has been able to encourage many homeowners both new and old to take part in the program. Through the offering of attractive figures on their pay bills and other rewards, they are able to provide incentive to the homeowners in close proximity to take part and save more.
