Good Research Paper On Dangers Of Texting And Driving
Driving is a task, which demands concentration. The loss of concentration or distraction from the road and vehicles surrounding one’s own vehicle on the road can end up to massive damage to property and life. The accidents are the result of the careless driving, and the driver is busy in some distracting activity. These road accidents can affect the life of the victims as they may get handicapped or lose senses for lifetime. Moreover, the victim may lose the life. Hence, the distracting materials are hazardous during driving. One of the distractions, these days is the major reason for these road accidents, which is texting on cell phones while driving.
The car crashes due to the use of mobile for texting had declined from 1999 to 2005. Conversely, after 2005, the cases of car crashes were elevated by an increase of 28% in 2008. Consequently, the use of mobiles while driving was investigated to be increased at the same time (Wilson & Jim, 2010). People are aware of the risks, which are caused due to texting or attending the call while driving. Still, people do not hesitate to receive the call or reply to the text message if it seems important (Nelson et al., 2009). However, teens are found to be texting while driving to the unimportant messages as well. According to the survey, nearly half of the people comprising 48% of drivers get involved in texting during driving. Moreover, among those who receive a call while driving, the 58% continue to drive along with talking on the phone. Furthermore, 24% of the drivers admitted that they could make a call while driving if needed (Schroeder et al., 2013).
Hence, people do not take the dangers associated with texting while driving seriously and continue this activity. Therefore, some of the states have imposed a ban on the use of mobiles during driving.
