Management Information Systems: Business Intelligence
Introduction
Data procession and transformation is very vital in every business operation within an organization. Collecting a variety of data from research does not mean a researcher has completed their work. Further procession as well as transformation, from a meaningful form into an implementable form, is largely needed for the benefit of the organization. Due to this fact, it is clear that a person with knowledge on Business and Entrepreneurship Development might be able to collect data from various sources but fail to process it more effectively and that is why expertise in management information systems, especially on business intelligence is highly required. Based on this fact, business intelligence (BI) refers is a set of techniques and equipments used to transform raw data into meaningful and applicable state for various businesses analyses and decision-making purposes.
Research Question
The capability of BI technology to handle large amounts of data at the same time has enabled organizations to process various forms of data more efficiently, thereby enabling them increase revenue generation and cut down overhead production costs. However, some organizations have not accrued meaningful benefits from the BIs. The primary purpose of this research study is to indicate or demonstrate how organizations and institutions can advance their performances by implementing business intelligence techniques. Moreover, the study aims to set a clear message to the organizations showing them that with the current levels of competition in the global market, an efficient and a stable decision making system is required and BIs are the better options to ensure that if implemented effectively. It also illustrates the need for people with BAs on other business fields to consider enrolling for master degree on business intelligence.
Methodology
The area of study is New York City, whereby, a section of 10 business corporations will be selected for purposes data collection. Within each organization, a sample of 20 managers will be chosen for data collection. In this case, 200 participants will take part in this study.
Both qualitative and quantities research methods will be applied in sampling and the actual data collection processes. To be specific, a cross-sectional descriptive design will be implemented in this study in an effort to ensure that information is collected within the right period. For qualitative primary data collection methods, the research will use structured interviews. Structured interviews seem to be very much professional. Subsequently, when used in such an executive study, they are likely to produce relevant research information. On the other hand, quantitative research methods will include questionnaires targeting the organizational managers, accounts and other institutional leaders within the area of study.
Data Analysis
For data analysis, the research will employ a frequency distribution technique. Frequency distribution techniques, such as mode, mean, and median allow the researcher to have a wider image of the data. Through this technique, a researcher is able to evaluate how frequent various variables are in a comparison manner. Then, after the analysis, it will be easy for the researcher to make a reliable conclusion based on the facts and compared with the study predictions.
Expected Results
The results are supposed to indicate that lack of proper application of business intelligences has contributed to the downfall of most businesses. From the area of study, the organizations with the most effective business intelligence techniques in place will show success in revenue generation and reduction in production costs.
Conclusion
However, a fundamental question of whether business intelligence techniques have significant values in business has not been addressed thus calling for further research on the same topic.
