Introduction:

This paper presents a selected data set containing a mixture of both the qualitative and the quantitate variables. This data will be used to illustrate the basic skill regarding data handling and manipulation particularly testing hypothesis that was learnt from the previous weeks. It also includes a description of this data including a description of the variables that were utilized in the analysis. It will provide an explanation of how this data can be utilized in the real world situation. In this paper a presentation of the results of statistical tests and results of the relationship tests that were carried out on the dataset.Selected Dataset:
In this paper I present results of the analysis carried out on a data set called auto. This data was chosen because it contains a mixture of both the qualitative and quantitative variables. It thus presents so many opportunities and avenues for a number of statistical tests and analysis to be carried out. It enables a display of all the techniques regarding data handling and analysis that were learnt in the previous weeks.
The data which is presented in this analysis contains a total of 122 variables. The dataset contains information on 1978 Automobile Data recorded on 13 Apr 2011 from the consumer reports. The variables consist of both the qualitative and quantitative variables. The quantitative variables in this dataset include:price,mpg,headroom,trunk,weight,length,turn,displacement and gear_ratio. The qualitative variables in this dataset include:make and foreign.
In this paper we are mainly concerned about discovering a number of attributes that exist between the cars that are produced in the united states of American and those that are produced outside United States of America. We intend to explore a number of relationships that are perpetrated existing between the qualitative variables and the quantitative variables.
Null Hypothesis• H1o: There is no significant difference between the prices of the foreign and the cars that are manufactured domestically.• H2o: There is no significant relationship between the price of the vehicle and the mpg.
Alternative Hypothesis• H1a: There is a significant difference between the prices of the foreign and the cars that are manufactured domestically.• H2a: There is a significant relationship between the price of the vehicle and the mpg.

The results from the SPSS out indicted that the mean price of the domestic cars was 6072.42 dollars whereas that of the foreign cars was 6384.68 dollars. A test was carried out test whether there exists a significant difference between the mean price of the domestic and the foreign cars. The SPSS out put that is contained in the attachment entitled “216743216_SPSS_output sheet” (that accompanies this work) shows that, there exists no significant difference between the prices of these two car categories. This was revealed the high p values obtained for instance a p value of 0.660 was obtained. This is way above the stated level of significance. In this we assumed the variances of the two car categories were no equal as depicted by Levene's Test for Equality of Variances. The results of the regression between the price and mpg indicated that mpg explains only 47% of the variation in the price of the cars that were considered in this analysis.
