Good Scientific Method Critical Thinking Example

Scientific method has played a significant role in ensuring that the results of a particular research are attained hence answering the questions in existence. Therefore, in other words, this refers to a process where experimentation is done to explore raw data in the field with the intention of coming up with answers to questions that arise. Even though scientific methods have been greatly used to study physical sciences, they have, with the same magnitude been used to study social sciences.
Just like any scientist, even a social scientist that is occupied with studying institutions also draws his or her data from the experiences being observed or seen. For instance, studying a particular type of behavior by people of certain caliber. This study can only be achieved through sensory perception. There are several steps implemented in the scientific method.

They include;

Asking a question
The method will be implemented when a question is asked regarding a certain observation. For instance, what is the role of trade unions in organizations?
The second step entails doing background research on the identified issue. Factoring in the question asked above, research will be conducted on the issue through the internet or in a library.
The third step in scientific research entails constructing a hypothesis. This refers to an intelligent guess on how things operate. For instance, if we join a trade union, then our conditions as workers will be improved
The fourth step entails testing the established hypothesis by conducting an experiment. This experiment determines whether the hypothesis can be supported or not. A certain procedure should be followed. A single factor should be altered one at a time so that the results are uniform. For instance, social scientists can test whether the conditions of the workers can be improved if they join trade unions.
The fifth step entails analyzing the data and coming up with a conclusion. In this case, if the hypothesis is not held, then the scientists should set up a new hypothesis. However, if supported, the same hypothesis should be tested again.
The sixth step includes communicating the already established results in the form of a report. Such a report can be published in a social science journal.
