Day in, day out, more issues associated with race or gender are being highlighted in different corners of the world. More often than not, these issues mostly result in the disadvantage of the person being discriminated. For example, in Saudi Arabia, women were forbidden to drive. Some women rebelled against this inhumane law and were subsequently punished by the authorities. In India, the practice of abortion upon discovering that it is a girl in the womb is extremely common. Moreover, it is common knowledge to all that women are paid less for the same work done by men. As a simple example, in the countries that depend mainly on agriculture like Pakistan or Bangladesh, there are acres of land for planting crops. The landlords prefer to employ women workers because they demand less money for the same job that men do.
Although workplace diversity is in vogue in today’s time, racism and discrimination on the basis of ethnicity still continues to haunt. Other than workplaces, this discrimination is even observed in the markets where sometimes, a person belonging to a certain race is ignored, and some other person is served first.
However, sometimes dividing people into groups can also be of benefit. For example, in a country where it is not common for women to do outdoor tasks like submitting utility bills or lining up in front of the bank, the women face myriad difficulties. Therefore, they are often served first by telling them to cross the line and come forward for an early service. This benefits and encourages women who already thread their way through society and face a predicament in the whole process.
