The heart diseases like Myocardial infarction, Ischemic heart diseases, Atherosclerosis, Arteriosclerosis, etc. are rapidly becoming popular in the modern world. The main reason for these diseases to occur is the modern lifestyle and diet. In this paper, the difference between Arteriosclerosis, arteriolosclerosis and Atherosclerosis is discussed. The role of triglycerides and inflammation in the development of artery blocking plaques and the changing views of dietary fats in population is also at the center of discussion.
Arteriosclerosis is the basically the thickening and loss of elasticity of the cardiac arterial walls. It happens due to deposition of cellular wastes in the walls of arteries. Arteriolosclerosis is also a pathology of arterial walls. It is of two types: Hyaline and Hyperplastic. In hyaline arteriolosclerosis, the blockage is from hyaline material. In hyperplastic, happens due to formation of another cell layer in the walls of artery. In atherosclerosis, a plaque made up of WBCs which causes inflammation of the vessels or triglycerides fat molecules. These plaques reduce the lumen diameter of the artery.
The triglycerides are the dietary fat molecules that are responsible for the cardiac disorders or stroke. Their increases amount in the body die to unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyles can set a chain reaction that leads to plaque formation in the walls of arteries. Due to these awareness, nowadays people are using omega-3 fatty acids from fish and flex seeds with fibers to reduce the amount of triglycerides from the blood. Until 20th century, the knowledge about the role of these molecules in causing heart diseases was less. But now, due to awareness in public, the views on fatty diets are changing rapidly.
