Heath Policy-Priority Selection Essay

Aging has become a critical concern among the United State population. Unlike other health policy priorities, aging has not been given the attention it deserves. This happens regardless of the fact that it is evidently clear that the US society is aging, and will soon face various consequences associated with aging. For this reason, it high time that pending aging administration and health policies be implemented soon for economic, healthcare and the general good of the US population at large.
All US individuals aged 60 years and above are in the aging bracket. The relevance of aging policy issue is beyond doubt for many reasons. First, aged people always develop health care concerns and complications that need close care attention. Then, it becomes very critical issue if the majority of the US society comprises of the aged. It only means that, apart from heath care needs, ample economic challenges are about to hit the society (Rovner, 2014). These facts make aging just a topic of priority worth for an immediate intervention. Change of policy to appropriately address aging will benefit not only the aged individuals but also the entire US society.
I have planned to meet with Senator Bill Nelson who is the current chairperson of the Senate special committee on aging. The rationale to meet Senator Nelson is to discuss about the recently report that recommends various ways to increasing affordable drugs targeting the aged in within the Medicare Rx program. In the discussion, I will be targeting to point out clearly the several concerns to emphasize on the projected benefits of the report recommendation. Furthermore, with the attention that the senate committee has given, I feel that the recommendation would best apply in the quest to salvage the situation and address all aging concerns for the better of all citizens.
