Adolf Hitler is well recognized due to the role that he played in German politics. This is attributed to the various regulations that he imposed in Germany that were not well received by the world. This is because Hitler as a leader had ideas that were solely based on dictatorship. His rule was not well taken since it is during this period that many nations around the world were incorporating the democratic idea into the governance of their country. Adolf Hitler created regulations that limited how things were operated in relation to Germans relations with other nations. Hitler damaged relations with other nations that he was not in support due to various reasons that he found fit to him alone. This paper will analyze his rule, the various decisions that he made and how they in turn affected Germany as a nation during this particular period.
Hitler gained significant popularity during his time despite the fact that he pushed for issues that were not well received. It is during one of his attempted coups that he was imprisoned making him gain popularity on release. After his release he raised to gain popularity that saw to his election to being one of the most prominent leaders of the then famous Nazi party. His supporters were many despite the numerous issues he brought up leading to serious damage to international relations (Hett 40). Despite being an educated person, he failed to recognize the need for maintaining good relation with other countries. This is clearly seen in the approach that he takes and the major contribution that he had in the World War 2 in Europe.
Despite the numerous persecutions that were carried out under Hitler’s authority, he still maintained his popularity. The pick off his popularity became evident during the 1934 referendum where power and authority was literary handed over to Hitler. It is after this referendum that Hitler came to gain government favor and support (Kater 32). This is because the government at this time had little regards and obligations in regards to what Hitler was doing. No one seemed to directly oppose his rule in spite of the numerous issues that cropped up during his rule. Having being a powerful person, his word came to be more effective than laws. Due to the position he was in, he violated a lot of laws and remained unchallenged.
His authority remained unchallenged for a number of years and persecution was inevitable to whoever dared challenge his authority and competence as a leader. Persecutions were common among other races in Germany and commonly among the minority group. The Aryan race is the majority race, and Hitler saw the Aryan as the sole and legitimate race that supported his rule. Due to this reason he made a lot of efforts to ensure that he made decisions that were in their favor. His contribution to ensuring that there was economic development was evident through the efforts that he made to reduce the unemployment rate. His major contribution to lowering the unemployment rate was through the use of military resources. Other works that were created was through public development projects that were undertaken through expensive expenditure. It is through this works that a lot of employment opportunities were established.
However, despite the establishment of these numerous opportunities, in equality and racism was evident in work allocation. This is because job allocation was done in favor of the majority group whom Hitler saw as the superiors. This is due to the influence that they had in his rule and the contributions that they made in maintaining his regime. Through such deeds which are clearly not in favor of the minority group, it is clear that there were serious inequities against other races and the various ethnic groups that were not in his favor.
Other forms of discrimination were based on religion; this is evident through the numerous challenges that the Jews faced after the seizure of power. There were a number of protests that were held under Hitler’s authority which were aimed at boycotting the growing Jewish population. The attacks were to also affect Jewish business; this is because Hitler saw the growing Jewish influence may at a time develop into an opposition against his rule. It is due to this reason that he ensured that he continuously oppressed any growing opposition that may arise.
Racism under Hitler’s rule is seen at its peak when there is a national book burning day where all books that were considered un-German were burnt. This kind of violence was not well received by the minority group. This kind of violence was advocated and sponsored by Hitler since he wanted all people who did not belong to Germany to leave. The oppression was focused on their business in order to make sure that they were frustrated and leave Germany. The oppression was evident through the various limitations that had been put on non-German owned business. Jews and other races that are not part of the German culture were banned from advertising their business in any form of media. Oppression was exercised to the extent where non-German business people were denied access to government contracts. Such deeds steered violence aimed at the Jews specifically due to the growing influence they were having in Germany. Entry into various towns was also restricted to Jews leaving them locked out of opportunities that may have been beneficial.
Other injustices were also evident in the Holocaust, the Holocaust was based on the long history that the Germans have had against the issues. A lot of people were persecuted during this period. Hitler was however very interested in taking over Poland, in order to attain this, he was determined to do away with anything that may get in his way. It is during this period that he killed numerous Jews and Slavs (Winstone 43). After taking over Poland, Hitler ensured that all Jews living in Poland were confined in slums. Other Jews in German were forced to work long hours and in poor working environments. All these injustices against the Jews were based on the hate that Hitler had for non-Germans and the Jews specifically. Hitler was determined to clear Poland of all ethnics and replace the entire county with German settlers. The settlement was done within a period of approximately 20 years. The initial in habitants of Poland were to be made slaves whereby they would be worked to death. Other Poland nationalities were taken to Siberia where they would be laborers or killed.
Violence was also directed to German nationalities who failed to carry out Hitler’s commands and failed to associate themselves with Germans. Germans who failed to classify themselves as part of German blood were subjected to harsh treatment. This is through taking them to concentration camps where they had their family members taken away from the especially children. Such individuals were also subjected to forced labor and also faced deportation with other Jews who Hitler thought of deporting to Madagascar among other countries.
Racial discrimination was evident through the numerous strategies that had been developed to ensure that there was a serious decline in the Jewish population. Despite the continuous killings that took place, there was a growing opposition against the deeds of Hitler. Opposition against Hitler was being done silently due to the consequences that existed for people who opposed him. There were also instances where German citizens would take in the few remaining Jews and putting them up in their houses. This was being done in order to ensure that the Jews were not completely eliminated. This is after confessions from German soldiers who had served in killing and slave camps. The admission of the amount of people and children who had been killed in these camps is what made the German open up to saving the few remaining Jews (Winstone 16). The German themselves admitted that they had seen and done things that they were not proud of. Through the admissions that they made, it is clear that there was a growing opposition against Hitler. Other methods used in eliminating the Jews were through the Hunger Plan. Through this, all food would be directed to the German population and the soldiers who served in the German military. Through this plan, it was expected that there would be a serious decline in the Jewish population. The Hunger Plan was expected to kill an estimated 80 million non-German nationalities. However, the plan was not fully executed as there were fewer deaths than the intended number of people that were to be killed.
Persecution of other minority groups included the disadvantaged and the fewer privileged members of the society. The mentally ill, poor, the sick and criminals were targeted since they were of little value according to Hitler. These kind of persecutions saw to the death of a lot of injustices against humanity since there existed a lot of unjustifiable killings.
Through all the issues that have been highlighted in this paper, it is clear that Hitler did a lot of injustices against humanity. The challenges and the persecutions that were conducted need not be repeated due to the impact that they had in German and the negative reputation that it has had on German politics. The need for democracy is made evident; this is because it is only through democracy that there can be sane leadership.
