Leadership And Ethics Critical Thinking Example

In chapter five Northouse (2010), examines the situational approach towards leadership. According to the chapter, different authors and scholars have modified the model severally since its inception. Furthermore, it finds extensive used in organizational leadership. The focus of the model is the situation faced by a leader. It suggests that a leader should rely on all factors in order to make a decision when faced by a situation. This has led to a lot of criticism since it is argued that it does not explain most of the assumptions made.
In chapter six Northouse (2010), discusses the contingency theory. Based on the contingency theory, leaders are marched to the situations that they face. According to the theory, there is no best way for a leader to lead an organization. This is mainly because the ability to lead the organization is contingent on the external and internal factors faced by the organization.
In chapter five Geuras & Garofalo (2011), examine the real world within which leaders lead. Within organizations, this world is greatly controlled by concepts such as organization structure and culture. This is mainly because they are important in the everyday running and management of an organization. Furthermore, the organization culture and code of ethics adopted by any organization greatly affects the ethical behavior within the organization.
In chapter 6 Geuras & Garofalo (2011), address the question of individual identity. Within the chapter, the authors try to answer the question ‘who am I?’ and ‘who do I want to be?’ The main recommendation from the chapter is the taking of a personal inventory. During the process of taking the inventory, an individual can be able to critically address the questions discussed above.
