Abstract
There is numerous leadership theories yet three of the more developmental are the trait approach, the abilities approach and the situational methodology speculations. This paper will present an account of leadership theories discussed in my leadership class. Of all the leadership speculations that are concentrated on, the two that are the most comparable are the qualities and aptitudes approaches, yet they vary in one measurement that is impressive. On the other hand, the situational methodology is one of a few possibility based leadership approach that returns past the idea of leadership qualities, traits, and abilities and accommodation into the domain of differing leadership styles to match a circumstance. In this respect, a correlation of the trait and abilities approaches with the situational methodology is suitable to underline the scope of methodologies in the investigation of leadership speculations.
Introduction
This paper presents the brief reflection of the learning outcomes of my leadership class. During the course I have learned various leadership approaches some of which I consider as very helpful approaches. However, I have learned some approaches that don’t seem very effective to me i.e.,; situational approach of leadership. I have attended a helpful leadership class thinking about my own leadership style, articulating and refining my management objectives, and really honing my leadership's aptitudes. Similarly as with the quest for dominance of any new aptitude, we must build up a propensity for achievement which is normally earned through managing recognizable circumstances in totally new ways. The paper also discusses the learning outcomes of both leadership approaches. (Northouse, 2012)
Discussion
Helpful approaches
The approach I found more useful to me is Trait theory. The trait approach gives valuable data about leadership and then, an individual can use the data from the approach to assessing their position in the association and to survey how their position can be made stronger in the association. This approach makes the individual mindful of his leadership qualities and shortcomings and hence he gets an understanding of how he can add to their leadership qualities. An individual can get an inside and out understanding of his personality and the way he will influence others in the association as a leader. The traits methodology offers climb to inquiries whether leaders are conceived or made; and whether leadership is a workmanship or science. Nonetheless, these are not totally unrelated choices. Leadership may be something of a craftsmanship; regardless it requires the application of uncommon abilities and methods. Regardless of the fact that there are sure characteristic qualities that make one a decent leader, these common gifts need support and improvement. (Zaccaro & Horn, 2003)
Fewer helpful approaches
I have also studied situational theory which I found less helpful. According to which leaders in one circumstance may not so much be leaders in different circumstances. As indicated by situational approach, no single intellectual profile or set of continuing traits interfaces straightforwardly to powerful leadership. Rather, the association between those individual qualities and the predominating conditions is the thing that makes powerful leadership. As such, situational approach suggests that compelling leadership is dependent upon variables free of an individual leader. Accordingly, the approach predicts that viable leaders are those whose individual characteristics match the needs of the circumstances in which they end up. Situational model spotlights on the communication of leadership style and the circumstances. Situational leadership depends upon the nature of the leader's associations with others, how decently organized their errands were and the leader's measure of formal power. It focuses on adaptability and straightforwardness in execution, can prepare leaders in your association with the devices important to skillfully explore the requests of an inexorably various workforce and advancing worldwide commercial center. (Northouse, 2012)
Learning outcomes of leadership approaches
During this class, I learned that Trait theory of leadership concentrates on the leader and the qualities he displays. Certain sorts of qualities make leaders more powerful. Case in point, the late Steve Jobs was known for his magnetism. His capacity to enthusiastically eloquent his dreams made individuals need to take his lead. Some different cases of traits that make a viable leader incorporate insights, self-assurance, uprightness and determination. Leadership hopefuls regularly take identity appraisal tests to pinpoint their traits. In situational leadership class, I learned that a leader's activities rely on upon the circumstances and the adherents. The leader chooses the proper style as indicated by the circumstances and status level of the adherents of a specific style of leadership. Case in point, if the subordinates have a low level of information, the guiding style of leadership where the leader advises the devotees precisely what to do proper. The results demonstrated that diverse levels of execution obliged distinctive leadership styles, yet the results were blurred by different elements, for example, group achievement and the piece of the group. (Northouse, 2012)
As a leader, I would apply both of these approaches in my leadership style. I will create Self-assurance is, trustworthiness and honesty because these are a matter of individual decision, inspiration to lead originates from inside the individual, and the information of business can be procured. While cognitive capacity has its inception incompletely in qualities, regardless it needs to be produced. None of these fixings are procured overnight. The four styles of the situational theory will help me in making lead according to the desired situation. Unendingly versatile to any condition, the situational approach would enable me to address the most pressing difficulties pervasive in today's workplace. (Northouse, 2012)
Conclusion
I can conclude that this leadership class has enabled me to learn much about leadership from giving the right plans, developing a dream that incorporates everybody, independently and by and large to take possession. In the course of the leadership class, I adapted all the more top to bottom about good leadership and how the establishment of this leadership includes the individuals. I discovered it a situational approach to leadership and trait theory of leadership. I found trait theory as more effective approach. I have studied the leadership approaches uncovering the vitality of leadership. It is a structure that considers centering one's energies in regions that require the most consideration. During this class, I recognized my weak points where I can put more effort for becoming a successful leader in future. This course has eventually placed me in the right bearing towards understanding my expert objectives and goals in my leadership improvement arrangement.
