Being a leader is an all time job (Daft, 2014). From the case study we can see that a good leader should always be there for people that he/she leads. To give them direction and help them overcome problems that might be befalling them. The idea of Schultz to sit down with the victims of the robbery tragedy was of great importance to the company and to victims. This move will make the employees feel like they are an integral part of the company. This move was essential in creating a sense of ownership among team members and that the company takes care of their welfare. It will increase the employee dedication and commitment to their work (Seybold, 2014). Schultz idea is of great importance to the external audience since it gives the company a good public image from the external environment and this will help build the company good will and image. Many people will want to be associated with a company that cares for its employees and the general public. This will increase the companies in position in job market and investment opportunities. Competent and skillful employee would want to work in that company under such leadership. With qualified and committed workforce, the quality of company’s goods and services will increase. This in turn will increase the demand for company’s goods and services and investors will want to invest on company’s shares.
This act raises the qualities of a good leader because a good leader should be responsible for his/her employees needs. He should come up with ideas of improving the lives of his employees and coming up with ideas to help employees in times of need. We have seen some other leaders who run away from the company in times of tragic occurrences leaving the employees to map their own way (Aaker, 2012). Schultz was there with them in times of need, thus helping the situation heal fasters. Good leaders should always lead from the forefront through setting aside mistakes and thinking about the employee (Daft, 2014).
