The article is an insight into the present degradation of the planet earth due to human exploitation and unscientific usage of resources. The entire article focuses on the requirement to adopt sustainable strategies that help the coming up generations to enjoy the fruits of nature.
The article starts by addressing the issue of human exploitations and it suggests adoption of sustainable strategies as a possible solution for extending the availability of the scarce natural resources. For the well being of the society and to effectively implement sustainability, a total structural change is required in the society. As per the essay, this type of change needs a revolution to be implemented.
The next revolution predicted by the authors is that of sustainability. The article supports this by offering twenty steps to achieve effective shift in the global paradigm towards sustainability. The primary cause of transformation in the present world is identified as information explosion and the secondary one is mentioned to be the systems that offer resistance to the changing world. The essay offers various tools that could encourage and catalyze a transformation in the global system. These tools are mentioned as inevitable entities for any society which strives to succeed in the present information age.
The article concludes stating that people are not comfortable about depending on the so called easier ‘soft’ tools that are used without a drastic revolution. However achieving true sustainability is far from this, and it requires a strong mindset and implementation skills to ensure that the future generation is safe and our planet will be inhabitable in the upcoming centuries as well.
