The preparations of the first colonizers to occupy mars, potential candidates must portray some skills, level of knowledge and show some abilities. This is in order to adapt to the planet since there is no coming back to earth after the departure. Some of the skills required are the ability to adapt to new environments and relate well with people. The reason for this is to ensure that chances of conflicts arising are minimal in the new colony. People who demonstrate a high level on knowledge shall also be considered. The ability to think well and be able to demonstrate problem solving skills will also be highly considered.
The process will take into account the need to incorporate many nationalities. There will be 107 participants from different nationalities to ensure that most nations are represented. Since this is a new colony by people from earth it is important to ensure as many as possible nations are enjoined. The genders will be on the ratio of 1:1 to ensure that all genders are equally represented.
The selection process will be vigorous and will take many stages to have the final number of people who will go on the one way trip to mars in order to colonize it. The process will involve getting the most qualified people for the mission by looking both at their physical and mental capability to be part of the trip.
For those who will qualify for the trip they will go through a training program which will ensure that they are fit and ready to adapt to the new program. The training program will entail preparing psychological and physical fitness of the participants. They will undergo through a process which will inform them of the challenges they may face and will be subjected to simulated challenges in order to prepare them.
There should be no psychological disorders portrayed by the psychological profile of the participants. Any recorded incidences of psychological disorder either by inheritance or use of drugs will be taken seriously and they will be disqualified from participating in the process
