Modern Calamities On The West Essays Example
The article starts with a note indicating that current calamities leading to the decline in humanity can be analysed under two categories. These are the social systems and the intellectual systems. Under the two systems, primary and supra-material essence of man are long forgotten. Both communism and capitalism systems refer to man as an economic animal. In this context, the economist is a fundamental principle in the Western people’s philosophy, which has led to the transformation of people to worshipers of consumption. In addition, in communist societies, moral and spiritual values and attitudes have deteriorated significantly.
Another modern calamity is based on ideological calamities, which are based on contemporary science. They ignore the concept that man is a primary being. For instance, historicism is widely informed a materialistic determination, which regards man as a passive element. In addition, biologism sees man as the latest in the chain of evolution; therefore, disregarding his spiritual manifestation. Sociologist on their side view man as a growing vegetable in the social environment. These aspects introduce some confusion in the Marxism theory since it does not concentrate on one particular view.
Religion has also significantly transformed its view of humankind and the supernatural power over them. Concerning Christianity, the Indian religion had explicit knowledge of man and the Unity of God as a spiritual being. However, this view has been transformed to the mass of superstitions where man believes in untold gods. Concerning Islamic religion, they are considered latest historical religion. Its effort to liberate humankind from religious oppression to Islamic liberty was reshaped by Arab Caliphate and the savage of conquerors.
Currently, the view of humanism has significantly changed. The humanitarian intellectual had made efforts to liberate humanity from religious slavery, by introducing a sacred article of faith in contemporary schools. However, it loses its sacredness, especially after being subjected to logical scrutiny.
