Multisim
Multisim is a user friendly schematic capture and simulation environment that engineers, students and professors can use in simulating circuits. It involves 6 friendly and easy to follow steps, that is,
Open Multisim (software)
This steps entails drawing the require schematic in the Multism environment. The steps are, Start>All Programmes>National Instruments>Circuit Design Suite 11.0>Multisim 11.0, which opens the default capture and simulation environment.
The next step involves opening the component browser. This organizes the components in the database into three logical levels, The Master Database which contains all the read-only shipping components, The Corporate Database which provides a place for saving custom components to be shared with other colleagues and the User Database where customs used by the designer only are saved (Pez .D, 2011).
Place Components
This step helps in invoking simulation, a process that requires a power source and ground within the circuit for correct voltages and currents referencing.
Of key to note is that simulation cannot run without the power and ground supply and multiple components can be achieved through copy and paste functions. These will facilitate the placement of all the components using the method illustrated above. After all components are placed the next step is to place the resistors in the circuit should be something like this,
Wire Components
Multisim provides a modeless wiring environment, meaning that the functionality of the mouse is determined by its position (Herniter, 2004). Thus wiring is simply achieved by simply moving the pointer from one point to another. (Just like drawing). The rules of terminals should strictly be observed.
Place a simulation Source
In order to use simulation, placing and wiring a signal source to the circuit is needed to act as a stimulus. The figure below demonstrates this,
Place Measurement Instruments
At this point the designer is ready to run an interactive simulation; however, there is need to visualize the data (Pez. D, 2011). This require visualizing tools illustrated below (instrument toolbar).
Run a Simulation
These involves some simple steps starting with the green button on the simulation bar shown below.
Visualization should be seen on the Oscilloscope. The following figure provides an example
