Orientalism And The Exhibitionary Order Literature Reviews Examples

Orientalism and exhibition order is a text written by Timothy Mitchell. According to the author, he views that the new colonialism is still present today as the western countries still oppress and treat people from the Middle East and Egypt as orients. The author also adds that the construction of the colonial order is to the modern form of representation and knowledge. The author criticizes the orientation and exhibition order that was created as a tool to unite the western and Middle East culture. He views that these orientation and exhibition are only made to mock and mimic the Middle East and Egyptian culture.
The type of genre, that the author uses, is a critical analysis he begins by critiquing the western people on how they treat people from the Middle East. For example, the author claims that when some Egyptians travel to Paris to attend a congress of orientation together with other non-Europeans delegation, they were received with great hospitality and curiosity. This was ironical because at the Congress they were being treated as Orientals of the exhibitions. The form of writing in which the author uses in the text is a description story with rhetorical questions such as. (But is there, perhaps, some more integral relationship between representation, as a modern technique of meaning and order and the construction of otherness so important to the colonial project?)
What I found interesting from the topic is how the French people view the Middle East people. They see them as funny, mock their religion and even organize for fake exhibition and orientations only to find out the Middle Eastern are being used as the orients. From the topic, I totally agree with the perception and the position of the author. The author claims that there is a mosque that was made to appear as a mosque on the outside while inside it was a place where Egyptian boys and girls were performing dances to the European delegates. Further questions that that reading of the orientalism and exhibition provoke to me are. When will racism ever end? Why an exhibition and orientation congress should turn into a mockery of other nation’s culture and believes?
