Personality refers to the patterns of thinking, behavior and how and what contributes to the thinking of an individual, as well as the behavior affected by different environments. Assessment tests are used to determine the personality of a person in a deductive way. These tests are based on factor analysis where a question posed, and the answer is determined based on different factors. The factors are then confirmed to determine the reliability of the answer (Hogan & Johnson 2007). The questions base on the five-factor model; the opportunity gives the questionnaire the chance to exploit relationships that have not remained exploited before about two items.
The questions bring the element of subtlety for this reason limiting the person taking the questions from having any ideas on how to perform better. Criticism factor exploits relationships and eliminates differences from a bigger population. Difficulty in identifying add-in, in every element, and that are not dealt with initially. The tests afterward determine the strengths of the personality, the weaknesses. If done truthfully shows the personality of the individual taking the test and how strong the personality is in different environments.
Personality growth has different levels that are significant and contribute to good growth and adjustment. The first and most important one is to access the subconscious part of the brain. A part of the brain that is unconscious plays a very big role in the creative ideas humans have. For this reason, a person has to establish a connection to that part of the brain, learn how to get the ideas the brain presents. The best means for that is meditation (Bruno 1983). For positive personal growth, it is vital that habits stay monitored, and those that do not have a positive influence are discarded. Out through the old and in through the new, growth is on different levels, cognitive growth is a good agent for powerful and clear thinking process in different situations. It is important also to develop analysis techniques of the brain through engaging games.
The means of communication within the body to the brain develops one`s ideas, bringing in the factor of originality, awareness of the truth and how it affects the person. All these factors when monitored, contribute to the psychological and personality growth. There are many philosophies that suggest different approaches to personality from biological where heritability is used to determine the nature of the person. Behaviorally suggestions are that the environment around them determines the personality of an individual.
The psychodynamic theories work mostly in the unconscious mind and other experiences that help shape the personality of an individual. It also is based on the identity of the person, the ego, and the superego. The identity is all about the urges; the superego is about the ideals and the ego balances between the needs of the other two. This theory suggests that the brain is the Centre of all personality bases. The humanist theory argues that free will and other human experiences are the bases of personality; for this reason, the argument is that the need is the motivation for behavior.
The trait theory suggests that the characteristics of an individual are the main cause and explain the behavior of an individual. It stands based on the five factors theories of the personality. These methods, highly define personality from different viewpoints, but all come down to one issue the explanation of personality. Personality is very broad and works great when all factors are accounted for, in the lack of one factor a personality disorder is imminent. The disorder also affects when there is too much, and there is no control or moderation of certain activities in the body.
Issues like birth order affect the choices a person makes as well as the characters of the person. Firstborns tend to have responsible behaviors while lastborn are associated with impulsive behavior. However, how a person is brought up affects the behavior. The environment does, and it also affects the mind (Magnavita 2002). For this reason, it is significant to know that all the theories work together on a level in order to shape the personality of an individual. The aging process also affects personality and choices made, it is vital to note that experience as the aging process kicks in moderates the choices made despite eagerness and anxiety. Personality is divided into five core ways; extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness.
The characteristics mentioned define different people on different levels. In some individuals, some characters overshadow the others, and that is where differences in personality show. The growth of one personality over the other draws the line to the choices made in factors influenced by the environment as well as analytic choices made by the brain. The variations in the core characteristics bring out more characteristics than initially available (Hogan & Johnson 2007). The traits, which a person portrays are known as the cardinal traits and these, are traits that show to others and are identifiable. Self-concept refers to the identity of oneself as perceived by the person. However, this image is directly linked to how one interprets oneself, how others interpret the person. The image is portrayed according to cultural teachings and also according to social comparison. The values stated above to determine the self-assessment and the result it affects the values of the person. The priorities of a person shift in sync with the image the person developed and how to make it better or worse. The interests of a person greatly affect the behavior the person shows. The motivation of a person gives the person confidence. The confidence, however, has to have well contributing environment in order for it to blossom. The environment if not right has the capability to reduce the confidence to doubt. The will of a person comes and plays a great role in accepting defeat or fighting back. The image presently portrayed by an individual and the image previously shown by the individual is connected influencing the flashbacks.
Depending on the image shown in the past the effect to the image in the present greatly matters. Personality and self-concept are defined to know and understand the environment currently an individual experience by need (Hogan & Johnson 2007). The self-knowledge comes in with the experience and in the variety of life knowledge as well as accumulated experiences. The readiness to learn gives an individual confidence and motivation. Self-concept is the building block for personality as it defines, gives roles contributing to growth and adjustment of choices made by an individual. The diversity in the characteristics develops from childhood for this reason making choices is influenced by the priorities and values developed.
Self-esteem is the self-belief that one accords oneself for successful motivation and success achievement. Self-esteem develops balance between being realistic and being positive minded. Genetics plays a big role in the shaping of a personality (Magnavita 2002). However, experiences play a bigger role and put a lot of support in self-esteem. It is important to develop an environment that is a favorable to the positive influence of self-esteem, as well as a company that does not undermine the self-worth a person develops. The beliefs of a person also affect the way self-esteem presents itself, the behavior, actions and feelings and the thinking process matter in how the self-esteem builds positively (Hogan & Johnson 2007).
Some of these issues affecting self-esteem develop from a young age when a kid is listened to it boosts the self-esteem in adult life. Being spoken to in a respectful manner contributes to good self-esteem. For children being given attention, as well as being told what is bad and good is a good building block to the self-esteem. Being criticized from childhood, lowers self-esteem, emotional and physical abuse makes a person develops negative self-esteem. The feeling of underperformance affects the self-esteem. Sometimes negative self-esteem gives a person the wrong sense of confidence. To overcome that one needs to develop self-compassion, forgiving oneself, recognizing the human part and minding self-emotions. Friends need to offer support and from family and relatives as well. The best option is to get a counselor to assist alongside others.
Personality is an image that a person portrays; this image is an array of many features merged together. The images vary from one person to person thus creating a different aspect of personalities.
