Identifying Global Business Opportunities
Introduction
Many businesses around the world have ventured into markets far away from their country. There are bigger and better opportunities in other countries which these organizations' wish to explore (Ferran, and Ricardo 80). They also want to expand their markets and increase their number of profits because this means that there will be more profits coming in. It also serves as a backup plan in case things do not go well in the country. The organization will still be operations. This is the case of Burt's Bees. The company has branches in Canada, Ireland, USA, United Kingdom, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Burt's Bees wishes to expand its business by opening an outlet in a different part of the world. The criteria for choosing this country are the opportunities. This will help the company weigh its options and choose the best option.

Business Opportunities

Burt's Bees having recently acquired a new company would wish to expand the business into a different country. There are various things that they should first consider before settling on a location. The first one is PEST (Ferran and Ricardo 45). This is the political, economic, social and technical environment. If the PEST environment is good and that there are in the future predictions that they might change for the worst, it means that the country is a good opportunity to state an outlet. The second thing to be considered by Burt's Bees and any other international company is the five forces analysis. These five forces are buyer power, supplier power, competitive rivalry, threat of substitution, and threat of a new entry. These are the most important considerations because they analyze the market very well. This enables a company to make a conclusive choice that will determine whether to invest in a different country or not.

Determine potential international markets for existing or proposed goods and services

When it comes to Burt's Bees, Osaka, Japan is the best choice. This is because the country has already analyzed PEST. The political environment is stable, economically, Japan is a powerhouse, socially, the company is well populated and has the appropriate means of communication and technically, the country is on another level. The five forces show that it is easy for the company to access suppliers and warehouses for storage of goods (Ferran and Ricardo 50). Customers can purchase these products, and they are also high in number to show that many products will sell. In Osaka, competition is healthy. This shows that that it is up to the company to convince the customers it is the best. In Osaka, personal care products are not many. This means that the threat of substitution is minimal. Lastly is the entry of a competitor. This is a factor that cannot be ruled out well because the company does not know whether another company will be interested in Osaka. This will be handed by using strategies to ensure consumer loyalty.

Organizing for Global Business ActivitiesSelecting a Global Company Structure

This is highly affected by the laws of the new market. The structure might have to be twisted a little from the normal in order to fit all specifications of the new country. It will also be shaken up because of inclusion of a new branch. There are different structures that can be used. There is the functional structure, international division structure, product division structure, geographic division structure, and matrix division structure. Burt's trees would only need to expand on their international division structure because it has been using this structure. It needs to include Osaka in its structure and operate the business as normal only that there will be additional of staff and work to be done (Dlabay and James 98).

Suggest objectives and an organizational framework for global business operations

Global business operations are not new to Burt's Bees. This is something has been done for years and having an extra branch will not change anything. The company will only require focusing on its main objective that is to make profits and attract more customers. The organizational framework will be a little adjusted to accommodate the needs of the new branch. Every country has different regulations that mean that to fit into Osaka, the operations might be different. This is something the Burt's Bees is already used because it has operated in different countries with different laws (Burt’s Bees 1).

Implementing the Global Market Plan

Product and Target Market Planning for Foreign Markets
Burt’s Bees is expected to have a strategy that will help it penetrate into Osaka. The target market is for these people who want to feel good about their skin and also for those who have personal care problems. Most of these people are the teenagers, youths, and adults. This means that the company targets over fifty percent of the population. Having done a good research, middle-income earners, which are the majority, will also be a target in Japan. The products will be sold at pocket-friendly prices so that they can attract many customers. The products will also be different because Japanese have a different skin from Americans and Britons. This is because of the difference in the environment. This means that their products will have to be made special for them. The company will have to manufacture products that are suitable for them so that they can purchase even more. Skin care and hair products are anticipated to sell highly in this new market (Hollensen 63).

Identify specific attributes and customer benefits for a proposed international product or service

In Burt's Bees, the company has specific attributes that will help them prosper in the international market. One of them is that it has made products that have been widely for over two decades now (Burt’s Bees 1). The products are well treated by all the outlets in all the parts of the world. The company has also acquired a new company, Clorox. This means that the company is prosperous and that there are limited chances of the company failing in Osaka. Customers will also expected to benefit from the new invention. They will have to worry less of personal care products. They will be brought to their town where they will be easily accessible. The products will also have favorable prices. This proves that they will not have to spend a lot in purchasing the products. Osaka will join the likes of other towns that have so face managed to be known in selling of these personal care products. They are believed and known to be good, and customers will enjoy them. The products are also of high quality. This shows that there will be minimal or no side effects at all. The products are genuine and have been used by many people across the world.
